Persona

For the last few months, our boy Mac, along with his partner Nate "Res" Harvey of "Resonating Art" has been working on his new project, PERSONA MAGAZINE. Taking inspiration from a lot of the Japanese magazines, Persona will often have more of a look book feel with an emphasis on product rather a mag filled with articles you probably never read anyway. For their first release, Persona has gotten together with the guys over at Crooks and Castles to put together, "Persona of a Crook". With the shoot doubling as Crooks' Holiday 2008 Look Book, the first magazine is set to release on Black Friday, November 27th. For the first release there's talks of the mag coming in a smooth custom case along with a few other extras.
Keep an eye out for our own project we got going with Persona Mag coming out over the next couple months. We'll be posting some teasers as we get closer.
Persona's new blog won't be up for a minute, but here's the current one: www.persona-mag.com

Sexton Interview

Joe Sexton and J.P. Walker stopped by Snowboarder Magazine and put together this little interview.

Good Stuff.

Slackin',.....again.

It's a little late, but Eero Ettala bagged the cover of Snowboard Magazine's buyer's guide. His Elm hat obviously blew off in the wind right before this shot was taken.

Nice work.

Transworld Vids

Here's a couple of videos currently on twsnow.com.

First up is the "Monday Mallet" featuring Nick Dirks abusing himself on a handrail.

Second is "Pre-Season Posers", featuring Jake Kuzyk and a couple of friends dressed like current industry stereotypes.

Click on the links to view the videos. I would have embedded the videos directly, but the html tags seem to be broken and I'm not enough of a nerd to want to fix them, sorry.

Enjoy.

Atmosphere Halloween Party

Our friends at Atmosphere Clothing are throwing a halloween party for all of you Oregon hippies. Be there or be somewhere less interesting.

Uniquely

Oakley loves throwing premiers/partys at their headquarters and they love throwing them right after rush-hour, so it takes forever+1 to get there. This time it was for a video titled "Uniquely", highlighting some of Oakley's female team in snow, skate, surf, and.......wake (no, seriously). Whatever though, it's my job to go to this stuff and I needed to meet up with Silvia anyway. So here we go:

This is me on the way to Oakley, cruising at a blistering 15mph.

This is me crankin' it up to 25mph for all of 5 minutes.

This is the crew resposible for the film, saying their thank-you's and intro's.

This is a room full of bros, brahs, ladies, pro-hos, bro-hos, and everything in between.

This is Silvia. She photographs very well, even on 9 hours of jet-lag.

This is Ming & Ping. They wear costumes and play that super-fantastic-electric-type music.

This is a guy dressed as some sort of Japanese bear or monkey, dancing and playing finger cymbals........yeah, I think it's time to leave.

This is me leaving....

You can download the movie here. That way you won't have to drive two hours to see it.

Rudy Ray Moore......R.I.P.

Hollywood has lost a legendary icon. Rudy Ray Moore, star of "Dolemite", "The Human Tornado", "Disco Godfather", and countless other classics, has passed on to the next life. He will be missed, but not forgotten. Fine actor, smooth dresser, and obvious hat connoisseur. Here are some images to remember him by.

.......rest in peace.

Let's Make Party!!

For those of you who are going to be in Denmark on Nov 1st.
You don't want to miss this. It's "FREE BEERS from 20 'o'clock". I can't promise that your going to get hand-fed strawberries though.

Downtown Showdown

Went to checkout the Vans Downtown Showdown on Saturday and almost immediately ran into my good friends Mike and Lance (below) from Ashbury. Lance also brought his good friend Canon Rebel.

The showdown was broken into four sections that were each judged separately by a legit panel of judges including Kenny Hughes, John Cardiel, and most importantly (for me at least) Ray Barbee.

First up was the Girl set-up dubbed the "Three Pump Dump". More than a few guys were having trouble putting a solid line together, because the jam format was a step below chaos. The first pump was getting destroyed though. Andrew Langi's tre-flips and Billy Marks' Cab-flips were my favorite.

The second stop was the Black Label "Dive Bar", which I couldn't get a good spot to take photos from. So you get nothing.......
The third section was Creature's "Five Points Of Pure Evil" (personally, I would've called it "The Deathstar" because of all the close calls that went down on it.

I also got to see Mike Vallely smack some guy in the face, then later he almost got into it with another guy. I would've taken photos or video, but I didn't want to incite Mike V's wrath upon myself. It was around this time that it got so cold my buttcheeks were shivering (I should've brought a sweatshirt) and I couldn't stand it anymore so we left.

For more photos (of better quality), go check some other website.

Nick Dirks will be The Daily Habit tonight. You should watch it because Nick's a good guy and there's probably nothing better on television anyway.

Voter Registration

Voter registration deadlines are coming up soon. So if you're not registered yet, get on it. The world is a mess and if you're not interested in politics now, you never will be. Not tellin' you who or what to vote for, just tellin' you to read up and make moves. For you Californians, here is some information on how to register.
And if you choose not to vote, don't be complaining about things later.

Langi Helps Regulars Win GVR

The GVR title came down to a 2 on 2 game of S.K.A.T.E. Andrew Langi and Chris Cole represented for the Regulars, while Tyler Hendley and Justin Figueroa skated for the Goofs. The game was close, but Langi and Cole came out on top. Did you really expect anything less? It's called goofy cuz it's goofy.

Get ready to see and hear Andrew Langi many more times in the near future.
Here, take a good look.......

Strictly Fitteds has also put together a nice little coast to coast preview tour for the line. Stop 1, Stop 2, Stop 3

The caps will be released later this fall at Once Upon A Time accounts. Check back here or at Strictly Fitteds for the rest of the tour.

Slackin' - Part Two

Vans Backyard Party contest was also held on Saturday the 20th in Montreal. I wasn't there, but the layout looked pretty crazy.

Andrew Langi showed up and destroyed everything to take 1st place and $8000. Good work.

Here's a couple vids of Andrew too.

-Dan

Slackin' - Part One

I know, I've been slackin on the posts lately. So let's catch up on a couple of contests that happened recently.

Bear Mountain's annual Hot Dogs 'N' Handrails event took place on Saturday the 20th. And was once again bigger and more ridiculous than the previous year. The "ridiculous" I'm talkin about is the increased amount of morons wearing goofy outfits. Here's a few examples:

The set-up looked much better than last year. There was a choice between a long down rail or a down-flat-down rail at the top. The centerpiece was a bombdrop that led into a step-over gap with an integrated wallride (yeah, I thought this was a rail contest too).

Men's 1st, 2nd, & 3rd went to Jed Anderson, Chaz Guldemond, and Scott Vine. Women's went to Desiree Melancon, Marie Hucal, and Raewyn Reid. Judging was probably tough with the whole jump vs. rail situation, but they should definitely do away with the pre-qualified status next year cuz some of those dudes in the finals were weak and their style was straight scustin'. I'm probably just annoyed that Charles Reid didn't get on the podium and Ben Rice didn't make finals. But I did get this smooth photo of Ben

and he got this smooth Interview.
