Nonsense

I just had this forwarded to me.
On August 7th, 2008 the Salt Lake Valley Health Department passed a new ordinance which prohibits the use of any skate ramps on a residential property. The reasoning they have used to issue this ordinance is based on "Noise Pollution".

www.slcminiramp.com
Please take less then two minutes of your day to visit this website and sign the petition to RE-allow people to have mini-ramps on their property in Salt Lake City

The petition is to allow people in Salt Lake City to own, or build a mini-ramp in their backyards. As ridiculous as this sounds, a new ordinance was passed last month that prohibits anyone in Salt Lake City from owning, or building a ramp in their yard for "noise pollution" purposes.

If it could happen there, it could happen here.

Hot Slush

Get off your couch and head up to Big Bear this weekend so you can watch people more fortunate than yourself get to snowboard before you do. The event is free to watch and apparently will feature "a unique setup that will test the skills of some of the best jumpers and jibbers in the world". There will also be a screening of Mack Dawg Productions new film "Double Decade" and People's "Down with the People", as well as Bear Mountain's new video, "A Walk in the Park". For more information, check out Bear Mountain's website.

For those 21 and over, be sure to stick around for the after party.

So come watch the contest, or come watch the videos, or come laugh at the people wearing ridiculous outfits, or just come get drunk. Whatever, just do something with your life and get away from this computer.

We're All Going To Die?

The doomsday device is online. Today the world's largest science experiment was fired up in Europe. Basically, this thing is a giant partical accelerator built inside an underground, 17mile long tunnel. What it does is send proton streams in opposite directions around the tunnel at just a hair short of the speed of light. When the particles cicle around and smash into each other, the force of the collision is hoped to simulate the conditions surrounding the "Big Bang". Sounds pretty safe, right? Some theorists worry that such a machine could generate small black holes that would devour the earth, but engineers of the project insist such claims are nonsnense. Anyway, I'm no expert and this thing is far more complex than I could possibly try to summarize in this blog. So, read more about it if you're a closet nerd (like me) and decide for yourself if we should all be worried or not (we shouldn't).
